One of the most debated topics of today is something that concerns every person on this planet everyday: food. What should we eat? How often should we eat? What advances in current food research and technologies are safe or unsafe? Healthy or unhealthy? However, one question rarely posed but of utmost importance comes to the forefront with Dr. Gabriel Cousens: how does the food we consume nourish other aspects of our lives, especially the spiritual?
Gabriel Cousens, MD, author of seven books exploring the relationship of mind, body, and spirit including the highly acclaimed Spiritual Nutrition and There is a Cure for Diabetes, is coming to the Bay Area in October! The ordained rabbi, Native American Sundancer and Spirit Dancer, yogi, Founder and Director of the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center and the Tree of Life Foundation, and health practitioner, will be speaking at a variety of events including Mystical Shabbat, several talks and meditations, a presentation of “Holistic Veganism,” “VegFest,” and a restaurant appearance at Pene Pacharmama.
Dr. Cousens sees a direct link between the harmony within all aspects of life–emotional, mental, physical, spiritual–and the food we consume; nourishment not only for the body, but also for the lives we lead. How we nourish ourselves is the foundation of our strength on our spiritual journeys. Cousens teaches that vegan cuisine and an 80% live-food lifestyle “nourish[es] the body with light and honors all life, from the human to the animal and plant kingdoms. Through this way of living consciously on the planet, we activate holographic patterns of peace within ourselves, which in turn activates patterns of peace within others and all life on the planet.”
