How many detoxes have you done in your entire life? If you are are feeling sick, overweight, depressed or ill, chances are you may need to resort to a more lasting remedy rather than the occasional detox.

The solution? Detox Your World. The latest book from Shazzie encourages you to detox both your environment and your body for quick and lasting results like:

The following excerpt outlines a portion of a detox plan that you can start now. Visit the NOURISH community in the coming weeks for the complete detox plan.

Stages to a Detoxed Life

Remember that this is a method of becoming less toxic and, therefore, healthier in all areas of your life gradually and easily. Use the detox plans when detoxing for life to accelerate cleansing, which will greatly assist this process.

Start at the top and work your way down, taking the time you need to feel comfortable with each change. You might want to do the first three changes all at once, or you might want to space them out over three months. It’s up to you. Once you’ve made a change, view it as a change for life. Some things will evolve, such as drinking water—you won’t need as much when you’re hydrated and eating more watery food as you will need in the beginning. Very soon, you’ll be in touch with your instincts and so will be able to determine what to tweak and when.

I don’t mention how to kick drug habits because it’s not an area I specialize in. If you need help with that, then please consult an expert in that field. If you follow this advice at the same time, please tell your counselor. Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) techniques and InnerTalk audios and other mind-changing audios can help change all addictive habits, including comfort eating and overeating. So without further ado, here’s what you can do. Take your time, and enjoy it.

Go Organic

This is your first change, and you don’t have to cut out anything that you eat or drink yet (that’ll come later!). If you have any doubts about switching to an organic diet, reread the organic section in this book, and read other organic food and farming books. Filling your brain with positive information such as this helps to delete your negative fear-based thoughts.

Make full use of supermarkets (they often offer online ordering and delivery so you can save time and gasoline). Check out local farmers, organic delivery schemes, markets, wholefood shops, neighbors with gardens, and wild places. Use your initiative, and make it a fun project. If you can’t afford to change to organic for all your food, or if some foods aren’t available organic, at least make sure your greens are organic (especially if you’ll be juicing them) because your much-needed minerals come from there.

Drink More Water

Most people are so permanently dehydrated that many diseases can occur because of that alone. Refresh your mind by drinking some water and reading my section on water. Then prepare the following every day: in a one-and-a-half-liter (about forty-eight-ounce) bottle of mineral water, squeeze some lemon juice before going to bed at night. Put the bottle by your bed, and drink a third of it upon waking. Drink the rest throughout the day. If you’re out and about, transfer some into a half-liter (twenty-ounce) “sports” bottle. If you are thirsty, drink more than the amount I’ve listed.

Tea, coffee, and fizzy drinks are toxic, so this could be the first thing you start to cut down on, as you increase your water intake.

Get Fruity in the Mornings

Once you’re happy eating organic food and drinking fruity water every morning, it’s time to change your breakfast. If you eat everything naughty under the sun for breakfast, make the change gradually. For example, eat fruit for breakfast one day, and your old way the next day. Or eat fruit first every morning, and then if you’re hungry half an hour later, eat half the portion of your old food. Gradually work up to eating fruit (or nothing if you’re not hungry) at the beginning of every day.

Check out the smoothies (p. 324) and puddings (p. 387) sections in this book and my other books for recipe ideas—you need never have the same breakfast twice! So from now on: make your first meal a fruit meal. This will prolong the amount of time your body has to detox. Remember that your body detoxes more when you’re resting and not eating, so sleep is a great time for detoxing.

Eating very light, easy-to-digest food in the morning gives your body a big helping hand, with “detox” written across its knuckles.

Once you have detoxed yourself, you might want to swap your fruit breakfast for a green juice breakfast. Wait at least one month before you make this switch, and do it gradually if you need to until you’re used to the flavor.
