Join Virgil Mayor Apostol for a 2-day workshop in traditional Filipino manual therapy in Ojai, California – April 20, 2012
The healing arts of the Phillipines are numerous, and have their roots in shamanic or metaphysical practices. These are based on an indigenous science, and usually have elements of both. The highlight of this workshop will introduce cultural practices, such as those taken for Ablon (aka Hilot), a traditional form of manual therapy used by Filipino healers and practitioners of the Filipino martial arts to treat neurovascular and musculoskeletal conditions sustained during the course of daily living or training.
This two-day workshop will cover the follow:
- Indigenous science and concepts
- Self-stretches and their Ablon application
- Triangular breathing exercises
- Pekkel (Ablon subcategory)
- Special exercises from the Filipino martial arts
