NAB Communities is a proud sponsor of the Dance of Hope Fundraising & Awareness event for acclaimed gypsy flamenco dancer and instructor Angelita Vargas. Vargas began her dancing career at age 3 and has been dancing throughout the world from Spain, Great Britain, North America, Japan, Holland, and Germany. In June 2011, Angelita suffered from a stroke that caused paralysis throughout the entire right side of her body and has since been undergoing various rehabilitation treatments. Angelita also received Feldenkrais therapy sessions following her stroke and has so far recovered the ability to walk and move her arms and fingers.
North Atlantic Books has donated Body Awareness as Healing Therapy: The Case of Nora by Moshe Feldenkrais and Mindful Spontaneity by Ruthy Alon for the event’s fundraising efforts which will go towards funding a month of rehabilitation for Angelita Vargas, spreading awareness of stroke prevention, and donating funds to the Shepherd Center of Atlanta, an organization dedicated to the rehabilitation of patients with brain or spinal chord injuries
