CULTURE | Charles Eisenstein to Visit Bay Area

“You can’t just say we demand a world of peace. Demands have to be specific. Anything that people can articulate can only be articulated within the language of the current political discourse. And that entire political discourse is already too small. And that’s why making explicit demands reduces the movement and takes the heart of it. It’s a real paradox and the movement understands that.” – Charles Eisenstein, Occupy Love

Many of the ideas and sentiments explored in Charles Eisenstein’s Sacred Economics are rapidly spreading throughout the world, namely the role of money in the destruction of the planet’s people and resources. Charles’ essay Occupy Wall Street–No Demand is Big Enough has gone viral since its release–prompting some individuals to even pen their own translations in order to get the word out. French newspaper LeMonde’s article entitled L’argent est-il devenu obsolète, or “Has Money Become Obsolete?” also echoes several central ideas articulated in Sacred Economics as well.

The desire for a new economy is clearly gaining momentum, and with reason. What with the explosion of Occupy protests worldwide, it’s clear that people are fed up with the failures of the current economic system.

Join Charles Eisenstein December 16 and 17 in the Bay Area for two events that will challenge you to think about the future of our economic system and what we can do to contribute to a sacred economy.
