WISDOM | The 16th Annual Festival of the Bones

The 16th Annual Festival of the Bones is upon us. Join in, celebrate your ancestry, and keep their memory alive through remembrance this November 5th.

“The Festival of the Bones honors the contributions of our collective ancestors and celebrates the beauty of life. Together we share in the gifts of the world’s spiritual traditions and incorporate elements from the African Masquerade Egungun, Dia de los Muertos, Hallomas, Mooncakes and Hungry Ghosts, as well as Native American, Hawaiian, and Middle Eastern celebrations. Representatives from these traditions will share their stories, songs, and dances.

This Festival is interactive village theatre. It brings women, men and children from diverse communities together, in a Hate Free Zone that is devoid of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and discord. Participants will experience transformative acts such as invoking the spirits of their ancestors, telling their stories, and placing them on the Ancestral Tree of Life.

In addition, it provides an atmosphere of kinship in which many of the concerns of Our Times can be addressed from a spiritual perspective. This atmosphere is created by features such as a Communal Ancestral Altar, Village Music and Dance, International Cuisine, Networking Opportunity Tables and a Marketplace.”

Kaleo Ching, author of Chi and Creativity, will be leading a Chi Kung presentation in an evening filled with ceremony, prayer, percussion chanting, Chi Kung and dance.
