NAB Communities Podcast: Mark Stephens

Stephens Podcast

September is the official National Yoga Month (a national observance designated by the Department of Health & Human Services) designed to build awareness of yoga’s proven health benefits and provide people with actionable guidance and tools to enhance their own well-being. This grassroots awareness campaign inspires both youths and adults to take responsibility for their well-being by focusing on prevention and healthy lifestyle choices.

In anticipation of this year’s National Yoga Month festivities, one of our highly acclaimed yoga authors, Mark Stephens, author of the bestselling book Teaching Yoga: Essential Foundations and Techniques, is coordinating several limited-time promotions to celebrate the power of the moving body.

In September, students from Stephens’ yoga studio, Santa Cruz Yoga (located in Santa Cruz, California), will join together to participate in Yoga for Peace. On Sunday, September 18th, 2011 participants from around the world will unite for an invigorating practice of 108 sun salutations, as the yoga world’s offering to further the UN International Peace Day.  No matter where you practice yoga, take this time to join together and create peace in the world.

Also during National Yoga Month at Santa Cruz Yoga, new students can buy one class and get the second free! Or, to help introduce yoga to those who don’t currently practice it, anyone who brings a friend to class will gain free access… and a free class for the newbie too!

Since National Yoga Month is only a few weeks away, in honor of all the festivities, we’re excited to share this month’s NAB Communities Podcast: an exclusive interview with yoga aficionado Mark Stephens. If you’re a student, tune in to learn how to find the best teacher for your individual needs. If you’re an instructor, get teaching advice from someone who has trained over seven hundred yoga teachers. Enjoy!
