What do we mean by conjuring, and what do we mean by “entities”? We’ll take Faust as the shamanic prototype, and briefly explore this particularly western form of shamanism, along with entities encountered in plant work.

Dale Pendell is the author of the cult classic Pharmako trilogy (pictured/linked below), an encyclopedic literary history of psychoactive plants and related synthetics that provides the reader with a unique, reliable, and often personal immersion in this medically, culturally, and spiritually fascinating and controversial subject.
Other works by Dale Pendell:
The Great Bay: Chronicles of the Collapse has received a Best Science Fiction award from the 2010 Green Book Festival for its powerful fictional vision of a fast-approaching future in which sea levels rise and a decimated population must find new ways to live. This book is available in hardcover and eBook forms online here, as well as bookstores worldwide.
In part a nonfiction discussion of the Burning Man festival, in part a poetic romp through Nevada’s Black Rock desert, Inspired Madness is both an irreverent introduction for those curious about the notorious event and an exhilarating reminiscence for veteran “burners.” Loosely structured around a week at Burning Man, the book combines a history of the festival with personal stories and social commentary, juxtaposing images and stories to capture a sense of the wild and unpredictable nature of life on the Playa.
