Patricia Cori Interviews Michio Kaku

Beyond the Matrix CoverRenowned channeler Patricia Cori’s new book is a departure from her previous publications—though readers and fans are sure to be captivated nonetheless.
Rather than providing a narrative of her channeled work, Cori instead has compiled several interviews with expert alternative thinkers taken from her radio show, which shares the name of the book. These interviewees range from crop circle experts to Egyptologists, though the interview that stuck me most was Cori’s interview with famed physicist Michio Kaku. A best-selling author and pioneer in the field of string theory, Kaku speaks with Cori about the possibility of other dimensions and other civilizations. In this excerpt, Kaku describes the types of extraterrestrial civilizations that physicists expect to find, as well as how our earthly civilization stacks up.

From Beyond the Matrix, Chapter 1: The Physics of the Impossible

PATRICIA CORI: What do you think is going to be around the corner for us? How do you foresee this transitional period ahead of us, with all the threats of so many dark things that we don’t need to list them, contrasted by the hope for so many positive evolutionary changes? How do you see the next few years playing out on this planet?

MICHIO KAKU: Let me talk to you about how the next century might play out, because I do believe in birth and rebirth. Physicists seriously look for evidence of intelligent life in the Universe, very seriously, and we also have to very seriously analyze the question: “What will these civilizations look like once we have made contact with them?” For us this is not an academic question: we have telescopes, we have satellites, and one day we will make contact.

Some physicists have theorized that civilizations occur in three types: Type One, Type Two, and Type Three.

A Type One civilization would be truly planetary: they have a planetary culture; they would have mastered the weather, hurricanes, earthquakes; they would have cities on their oceans. A planetary civilization fitting this description is about maybe one hundred years more advanced than us.

Then we have Type Two: a Type Two civilization has actually gone into the stars now and they actually control stars . . . a few neighboring stars. They colonize a few neighboring solar systems; they control the energy output of an entire star.

Then we have Type Three, which is galactic—they actually control the energy of not just one star, not just a hundred . . . but billions of star systems. That is Type Three, and if any civilization has ever visited us they would probably be Type Two or Type Three.

Now, if you take a look at us, what are we on this scale? We are
Type Zero.

CORI: Okay, so how do you define Type Zero, which is sounding like a rather un-evolved civilization?

KAKU: Okay, let’s talk about Type Zero. Type Zero gives us energy from dead plants. They still have the savagery of the jungle, the savagery of sectarianism, ignorance, poverty, disease. They can only dream of being a planetary civilization, but if you get a calculator and just do the calculations, we are about a hundred years away from being a planetary civilization, and I see the birth pangs of a Type One civilization every time I read the newspaper.

For example, what is the Internet? The Internet is the beginning of a Type One telephone system. For the first time in history, we can actually see the outline of what a planetary telecommunication system would look like. The Internet is the baby, the germ, the seed, of a Type One telephone system. What language will they speak? They would probably speak English. English is already the language of the elite. Everywhere I go to speak at conferences, the elite businessmen, politicians, and scientists all speak English. That will be for the middle class, a hundred years from now. The middle class will all speak English, as well as their own language.

What is the European Union? The European Union is the beginning of a Type One economy—and why do we even have the European Union? To compete with NAFTA, that is, the United States. So we are seeing the beginning of a Type One economy, and everywhere I go (and I listen to music and watch TV), I see the beginning of a Type One culture. Young people love rock and roll; they love rap; they dance to the latest beat. The elite have high fashion, which I think is pretty much uniform now throughout the world. We all love movies—that is also giving us a Type One culture.

We see the beginning of a Type One culture everywhere we go, but there is also a backlash, and this is what I am afraid of. There are forces that don’t want a Type One planetary civilization, because it is multicultural; it is enlightened; it is progressive; it believes in equality; it believes in progress in the future. These are terrorists. Terrorists believe in Type Minus One civilization—a civilization dominated by dogma, by rigid religious beliefs, and by a very rigid hierarchy, where males are at the top, and women are at the bottom. That is the terrorists, who don’t believe in a progressive planetary Type One civilization.

It is not clear that we are going to make the transition from Type Zero to Type One. Some people think that, maybe in 2012, we will make the transition to Type One, but I tend to think if 2012 as nothing but a renewal, a new beginning. Where are we headed for? Where is the Age of Aquarius that people have talked about? For me, that is a Type One civilization—planetary, tolerant, progressive, scientific, democratic—I think that is where we are headed, unless we blow ourselves up first!

Crazy, right? Be sure to check out the rest of Beyond the Matrix for more mind-boggling interviews!
