Lucy Harmer’s Shamanic Astrology Forecast – April 20 to May 20: BEAVER

This book is a delight to read, filled with shamanic insight. The lunar calendars make it complete and truly unique in its field. It is a valuable addition to any book collection.”
—Pip Waller, author of Holistic Anatomy: An Integrative Guide to the Human Body

Welcome to Lucy Harmer’s Shamanic Astrology monthly forecast for the Northern Hemisphere! Each month Lucy shares inspiration and ideas for the coming weeks from her book Shamanic Astrology: Understanding Your Spirit Animal Sign.

Shamanic Astrology is based on the study of the movement of the sun and the moon during the different seasons of the year. There are twelve astrological “signs” which are represented by twelve different spirit animals. To find out your own personal spirit animal sign (the sign you were born under), please check the table of spirit animals at the end of this article. Shamanic Astrology teaches us that inner power derives from knowing the properties, characteristics, and qualities of each spirit animal (known as their “medicine”), and applying this in our own lives.

Each month I will focus on the spirit animal for that month, and describe the “energy” of the month itself and also the influence of the moon. I will also indicate which other spirit animal signs will find this month to be particularly beneficial, and why.Beaver

April 20 – May 20: BEAVER

Month of shoots and planting

Spirit Animal Sign of the Month:

Beaver is the spirit animal which corresponds to April 20 – May 20 (in the northern hemisphere). If you were born at this time, your spirit animal sign is Beaver and you share Beaver’s strengths of being determined, efficient, strong-willed, diligent, stable, kind-hearted, generous, trustworthy and patient. You may also share some of Beaver’s weaknesses and can have a tendency to be possessive, jealous, rigid, stubborn and headstrong.

Medicine: Beaver’s medicine is the ability to work hard, to appreciate the material things in life and to achieve success by being methodical. To be used when extra effort and concentration are needed.
Element: Earth
Stone: Jasper
Color: Yellow
Plant: Wild Clover

Energy of the season:
Beaver’s month is the month of young shoots and planting. Nature is waking up and the sun’s influence becomes stronger each day. New leaves and flowers start to appear, and the season’s strong energy brings with it great change: the new cycle is underway. This month is favorable for setting down a solid foundation for the year to come; it is a time to put structures and boundaries for new projects and ideas into place. The month of Beaver encourages creativity and highlights organizational qualities. All that is undertaken this month is certain to go well, from working hard at new endeavors, to the consolidation of something already in place.

Energy of the moon:
Beaver’s new moon started on April 14 and the full moon is on April 28. This period is the ideal time for consolidating new ideas, establishing structures for projects and working towards precise goals. The time immediately following the full moon – from April 29 until May 13 – is the perfect time for creating solid foundations for the future. It is a great time to sign business contracts, or make long term commitments; it is an ideal time to get married. May 14 brings the new moon in Deer – a perfect time for connecting to people.

This month is particularly favorable for the following signs:

Beaver:
If your sign is Beaver the energy of this month is very favorable because it corresponds to the month and the moon of your birth. A new cycle is about to start in your life and this is the best time to start planting seeds. Use the sun’s energy to take stock and head off in a new direction.

Brown Bear/Snow Goose:
If your sign is Brown Bear or Snow Goose this is a very lucky month for you, with lots of harmony because you are in your own earth element. A multitude of opportunities will open up for you in this period and this is the best time to give destiny a helping hand!

Woodpecker/Wolf:
For Woodpecker and Wolf people, this is a very dynamic month, full of energy which favors the conception and birth of new projects. You will feel new motivation and a renewal of your energy at this time.

Table of Spirit Animal Signs:
